Learning Agreements

Request for the Issuance of a Learning Agreement

If the foreign course is equivalent, we will issue learning agreements for the respective lectures.

Completeness

Please note that only fully completed and signed Learning Agreements will be processed!
All information must be entered directly into the form. Entries such as “see attachment” are not permitted.

Your request can only be processed if detailed information on the course contents, including reading list, contact hours, and type(s) of examination, is submitted together with the Learning Agreement.

Telephone or in-person inquiries and collection are only possible during official office hours.

Criteria for the recognition of externally obtained examination credits

  • The application for a Learning Agreement must be submitted before the start of your stay abroad. A subsequent recognition of courses is not possible.
  • The course abroad must be equivalent in content and level to the corresponding course offered at the University of Passau or represent a meaningful addition within the framework of elective courses.
  • The number of contact hours must be at least equivalent to that of the course at Passau. Please ensure that your application includes all necessary information so that the workload of the completed course can be verified and compared with the equivalent course in Passau.
  • The examination must take the form of a written exam; however, combinations of written and oral examinations are also acceptable.
  • Please submit applications only for courses related to the field of Information Systems.
  • In the Bachelor’s program, first- or second-semester courses are generally not recognized.
  • In the Master’s program, courses in basic or introductory areas are generally not recognized.
  • Students enrolled in the International Cultural and Business Studies program are kindly asked to consult the academic advisory service before submitting their application to ensure that the chosen course represents a meaningful addition to their planned study abroad program.

The following steps are required to ensure a smooth process:

Step 1

The application form must be completed and signed digitally and in full before you start the respective course.

The form to be completed at this stage is currently available on the German website only.
An English translation is already in progress and will be made available soon.

We will review your information and, if approved, prepare the Learning Agreement for you. You will then receive an email notification informing you that you can collect it from the respective chair/department.

Please note that processing may take up to 2 months.

After your stay abroad, if required by your Learning Agreement, please first report back to the chair that issued your Learning Agreement.

Tthe conversion of your grade will no longer be carried out by the individual chairs where the Learning Agreement was applied for, but will instead be handled centrally by the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Business and Economics during regular office hours.

For the grade conversion, you will need the following documents:

  • the official Transcript of Records from the partner university in original (not digital!) plus one copy
  • the issued and signed Learning Agreement

You can submit the Learning Agreement to the Examinations Office after the grade conversion has been confirmed by the Dean’s Office.

You can find more information about grade conversion here.
